Alright crew — grab your gear (and maybe a little caffeine), because our next meeting night on October 21 is all about lighting up the darkness.
We’re training on Night Ops & Lighting — and trust me, this one’s gonna be bright, loud, and hands-on.
🗓️ The Quick Rundown
When: October 21
Where: Deckerville Fire Hall
What: Hands-on training focused on Visibility, Traffic Control, and Lighting Setup
Instructor: Dominic – Training & Safety Officer
🎯 Training Objectives

By the end of the night, you’ll be able to:
Maximize visibility for crews, vehicles, and scene safety.
Deploy traffic control that keeps everyone out of the danger zone.
Set up scene lighting that brightens what matters — without blinding what doesn’t.
Basically, you’ll earn your unofficial rank of:
💡 Deckerville’s Night Ops Master.
🔦 What We’re Covering
👀 Visibility
Learn how to keep yourself seen — and your crew safe.
Reflective gear, light angles, and why shadows are sneaky.
Quick fixes that make your setup pro-level.
🚧 Traffic Control
Managing chaos in the dark.
Flagger placement, cone zones, and vehicle flow.
Communicating clearly when light bars are flashing and radios are buzzing.
💡 Lighting Setup
Tower lights, floodlights, and portable LEDs — the right tool for the job.
How to avoid glare, dark zones, and unsafe wiring.
The “drive-by check”: if it looks good from the truck, it’ll work in the field.
🧤 Hands-On Action
We’ll be outside (weather permitting) running a full mock scene.
You’ll rotate through:
Lighting setup
Traffic management
Crew visibility and movement zones
And yeah… we’ll probably make it a friendly competition — winner gets bragging rights (and maybe the last donut).
🌐 Can’t Make It? No Excuses.

If you can’t attend the in-person training, you can complete the online version here:👉 National TIM Training Certificate – Responder Safety Learning Network

🧰 What to Bring
Hi-vis gear (seriously, it’s night ops — don’t show up glowing like a ninja)
Headlamp or flashlight
Work gloves & boots
Coffee or energy drink (pick your poison)
Positive attitude and sense of humor

⚡ Final Word
Whether you’re on the line or running command, night scenes demand visibility, control, and smart lighting. This is the stuff that keeps firefighters and the public safe — and we’re going to make sure Deckerville owns the night.
See you on October 21 — and remember:
Stay bright. Stay safe. Stay Deckerville tough.
